90 Day Fiancé: In a different way stars Joanne Digesu and Sean played huge when they kept their marriage a secret from their children. Joanne, 43, is a psychic from New York who met Irishman Sean, 38, during a psychic reading. Their connection was undeniable and they decided to marry on Joanne’s third trip to Ireland. Unfortunately, the news was not received as well as expected.

Sean and Joanne are both single parents. Sean has a daughter, Bella, while Joanne has two sons, Joey, 18, and Jesse, 12. Shockingly, Sean and Joanne chose not to tell their children about their marriage. The more time passed, the more difficult it became. After two years, they brought their children together for the first time to share the news. When a new blended family shared a house in rural Ireland, the children struggled to cope with their parents’ decision.

Joanne’s children had never met Sean

They found out he was their stepfather days after the meeting

Although Joanne and Sean had been married for two years, her sons had never even met Sean. Joanne traveled to Ireland often, but her sons had never accompanied her. Sean’s past history of overstaying his visa prevented him from traveling to the United States.

Sean made a good first impression on Joanne’s boys, but their relationship was never given a fair chance. The boys were completely shocked to learn that Sean was their stepfather when he was still a complete stranger. It was incredibly risky for Joanne to marry a man without making sure he had a good relationship with his sons. She said she would end the marriage if her sons didn’t like Sean, but that put undue pressure on them.

90 Day Fiancé: TOW‘p Sean and Joanne expected their children to be happy in their marriage. They were surprised by their children’s hesitation, which shows that they had not thought about the effect the news would have on them. Joanne’s older son Joey was particularly concerned and soon withdrew. She was confused about the logistics of Joanne’s plan and didn’t have any clear answers for her.

Joanne’s custody agreement prevents her children from joining her in Ireland

They felt abandoned because he was going to move out

Joanne was planning to move to Ireland, but she couldn’t bring her sons with her. Joanne shared custody with her ex-husband and could not move her children out of the country. He planned to return to New York often to spend time with his sons, but the details of the arrangement were murky.

Joey and Jesse were understandably uneasy about Joanne’s plans. Although he visited them often, they lost their security when they knew their mother was around. It is hard to fathom how Joanne could move away knowing that her children would not be able to join her.

Sean and Joanne admitted they hadn’t thought their plans through

They did not expect their loved ones to be questioned

After breaking the news of their marriage and Joanne’s intention to move to Ireland, she and Sean were forced to question their children, parents and friends. They were faced with many unanswered questions. Sean admitted to Joanne’s mother that when they got married, they hadn’t thought of any details.

Sean and Joanne clearly love their children, but they didn’t think about them when they kept their marriage a secret for two years. The children now have strange stepfathers. Also, they lost trust in their parents when they found out that they were keeping such a big secret. Like their scenes 90 Day Fiancé: In a different way Joanne and Sean seem less confident about their decisions. If they don’t work things out with their children, they have no hope for a future together.
