American Idol season 22 winner Abi Carter has been very busy since being crowned the reality singing competition series champion in May 2024. Abi, a 21-year-old musician from Indio, California, made history during American Idol season 22 the first platinum ticket recipient to win the show. During her audition, she wowed the judges – Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan – with her extraordinary performance of “What Was I Made For?” By: Billie Eilish Abi kept winning American Idol in season 22, defeating runner-up Will Moseley and third-place Jack Blocker in the season finale.

Since victory American Idol in season 22, Abi has released music including the singles “Peppermint Sky”, “some people need drugs” and “Comfortably Numb”, all of which she wrote. He also released music videos for the songs “Peppermint Sky” and “some people need drugs”. In an Instagram post published in October 2024 Abi announced that “Comfortably Numb” was the next single his debut album titled Ghosts in the backyardwhich appeared on 15 November 2024.

In the post title, Abi shared that in 2020 “from pure and utter boredom during quarantine” he made the bucket list, regardless “no idea” how he would ever achieve the things mentioned in it. Abi announced, “On November 15th I can cross that off my bucket list 🙂 this album is both a time stamp and a milestone for me, exploring empty relationships, heavy nostalgia and every up and down that led me to the incredible journey of making music for you, I could cry just thinking about it, and I hope this song and album mean as much to you as it does to me.“

In an Instagram post published in August 2024 Abi shared a montage of video clips from the subject his first live concert “No Amount of Dark” which was at Acrisure Arena on Saturday 27th July. The montage was set to his song “Peppermint Sky”. Abi wrote in the post title: “Still can’t believe last weekend was real. Thanks to all the people who brought this show to life. Tour dates coming soon, catch a show in a city near you ;).”

In an Instagram post published in September 2024 Abi reported it he will perform at Stagecoach 2025California Country Music Festival. He will perform on Friday, April 25, 2025 with headliner Zach Bryan and many others. In his caption, he wrote: “I’m officially dreaming!”

Abi has been very visible since the Show

In addition to his music and performances, Abi has performed at various events. In August 2024, Abi performed at D23 and followed that up with an appearance at New York Fashion Week in September. Abi also sang the national anthem at Game 3 of the National League Championship Series between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citifield on October 16, 2024. Abi has also given back. In an Instagram post published in July 2024 Acrisure Arena said he surprised Eisenhower Health employees in California with tickets to his July 27 show. The post caption said, “Abi shared her deep gratitude for the incredible efforts of everyone at Eisenhower Health. These tickets are her way of giving back and thanking her from the bottom of her heart.”

At the beginning of 2025, Abi announced that he would perform Ghosts in the Backyard Tourin support of his album of the same name. In an Instagram post Abi announced tour dates that include February 25 in San Diego, California; February 26 in Fresno, California; February 27 in Felton, California; March 10 in Nashville, Tennessee; March 11 in Atlanta, Georgia; March 13 in Carrboro, North Carolina; and March 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Abi will be playing small venues in these cities so she can be up close and personal with the fans.

Abi wrote in the message “AHHHHHH I’M GOING TO THE TOUR!!!!!” and shared information on how to get advance tickets. Abi ended the message by writing, “Are you coming?” Many fans expressed their excitement about Abi’s tour and said so in the comments. Abi’s friend American Idol the season 22 contestants also announced that they would attend his tour dates. Top 10 finalist Kayko wrote, “I Spy on Nashville” to which Abi replied: “see you there ;).” Additionally, Top 24 finalist Blake Proehl said, “IS IN NASHVILLE,” to which Abi replied, “YAYAYAYAYAYYAYAY SEE YOU THENNNNNN.”

In the comment section of Abi’s post a fan pointed out that the first date of the tour, February 25th, is the one-year anniversary of Abi’s debut American Idol. Abi replied: “how crazy.” It’s really amazing that a whole year has passed since Abi was first seen on the show. He has come so far since then and hopefully this new tour will provide him with even more exciting opportunities as he moves forward in his music career. Abi sure works hard to succeed.
