Midweek Premier League football returns tonight (April 4) with two crucial fixtures that could determine the final standings at both ends of the table. Title favourites Liverpool will face bottom-place Sheffield United at home, while Manchester United travel to the capital to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
A frustrated Chelsea earned a point in their weekend fixture against 10-man Burnley thanks to two goals from Cole Palmer. The England man buried a Panenka penalty to give Mauricio Pochettino’s struggling side a lift on the stroke of half time before converting a flick from Raheem Sterling to make it 2-1 with just over 10 minutes to go – a goal that was cancelled out just three minutes later.
Ten Hag’s side also took one point on Saturday, narrowly missing out on a win after a last minute equaliser from Brentford’s Kristoffer Ajer cancelled out Mason Mount’s injury time goal, a huge blow to United’s chances of Champions League football. The returning midfielder could be in contention to face his old side this evening as he makes his way back into the team following a long stretch out due to injury.

Chelsea will be under pressure this evening having failed to register a league win against United since November 2017. The blues could jump three places to ninth if they take all three points and win by at least three goals.

Further up the table, sixth place United could close the gap between them and Tottenham, with a win taking them six points behind Spurs but no further up the table with seven games to play. United will then face second-place Liverpool on Sunday, while Chelsea play relegation contenders Sheffield United.
But until then, here’s everything you need to know about Chelsea vs Manchester United.
