The rules remain the same: don’t use public transport unless absolutely necessary.
The only change is that if you need to travel, make sure you wear a face mask from Monday (June 15).
If you don’t, you risk being banned or fined – which you don’t want.
If everyone wears a face mask, everyone will be more protected from the coronavirus when traveling on the network.
Transport for London has put out more information to keep Londoners safe – including where to avoid if you must travel.
It is important to avoid certain times, lines and stations that may be busy. This will reduce the number of passengers in a space and reduce the spread of Covid-19.
With this in mind, here are the times, lines and stations you should avoid on the London Underground:
Times to avoid
If you must use public transport for an essential reason, you should avoid traveling during the busiest times.
Londoners should therefore avoid using the Tube from 5.45am to 8.15am and from 4pm to 5.30pm.
Lines that should be avoided
These stations and lines should also be avoided:
- Central line between South Woodford/Redbridge and Stratford
- Jubilee Line between Stratford and Westminster
- District line between Dagenham Heathway and Aldgate East
- Victoria line
- London Overground between Stratford and Willesden Junction
- DLR between Woolwich Arsenal and Canning Town
Stations to avoid
Here are the 20 busiest stations TfL wants you to avoid:

Liverpool Street – expect long queues to enter
London Bridge (underground) – expect long queues to enter
Romford – expect long queues to enter
Seven sisters – expect long queues to get in and avoid using the station as a change
Stratford – expect long queues to get in and avoid using the station as a change
Upton Park – expect long queues to enter
Walthamstow Central – expect long queues to get in and avoid using the station as a change
West Croydon – expect long queues to enter
