The capital’s finest restaurants have been revealed in a new map – with a wide variety of different venues proving that “choice is London’s greatest luxury”. SquareMeal has published its list of London’s Top 100 UK Restaurants for 2026. Based on “performance, value, and quality”, the restaurant, bar, and venue reviewer said that the city’s best eateries “understand their audience, their neighbourhoods and the moment we’re in”.
Experts at SquareMeal said: “No matter the circumstances, London keeps pushing forward. Rising costs and mounting operational pressures have claimed casualties, yet the broader response remains characteristically resilient. Sharper cooking, more thoughtful hospitality and a renewed focus on diner experience – the SquareMeal Top 100 London Restaurants for 2026 reflect a dining culture that’s more intentional than ever.
“No surprise, the prevailing trends are contradictory. Affordable luxuries sit comfortably alongside destination dining; early evenings rival late nights; and warmth, consistency and experience are valued just as highly as technical brilliance. That interplay remains one of London’s defining charms. With excellence at every level and price point, often just a few streets apart, choice is London’s greatest luxury – and its greatest challenge.”
The vast majority of the city’s top 100 establishments are in central London and more than a third (37) are in Westminster. Another 14 are in Hackney, 11 in Islington, and 10 in Southwark. Only two Outer London restaurants have made the top 100, Gina in Chingford, Waltham Forest, which is ranked 34th, and The Silver Birch in Chiswick, Hounslow (88th).
Topping the list is Wildflowers in Pimlico, SquareMeal’s UK London Restaurant of the Year. The debut solo project from ex-Trinity chef Aaron Potter, Wildflowers opened in late 2024 and “made an immediate impression thanks to its assured, Mediterranean-leaning cooking and effortlessly convivial atmosphere”.
Repeated visits by SquareMeal reviewers “confirmed its staying power, revealing impressive consistency and a winning formula: seasonal, live fire dishes, precise flavours, and a rare emphasis on genuinely personal service”.
SquareMeal said: “Paired with sleek interiors by stylist Laura Hart and amiable service, Wildflowers has confidence and charm far beyond its years. If this is the future of London restaurants, we’re in very good hands.”
Claiming second place is Planque in Dalston. According to SquareMeal, the restaurant “looks like another East End bar”, but “quickly reveals itself as something of rare brilliance”, thanks to “striking architecture, mad genius cooking and razor-sharp wine pairings”.
Claiming third spot is Legado in Shoreditch, Nieves Barragan-Mohacho’s legacy restaurant. SquareMeal notes that “capturing the disparate identities of varied Spanish regions is no small feat, and yet, from Segovian suckling pig to quisquillas de Cadiz, there isn’t a dud in sight”.
