The Seat Mii comes with three or five doors and adds a dose of Spanish style to the basic shape it shares with its cousins the VW Up! and Skoda Citigo. Seat can’t transform the angular style but have added more interesting lights and worked with fashion brand Mango to produce an interesting special edition which features a hook on the glovebox to hang your handbag on.
Practicality
It’s may be small on the outside, but it feels large on the inside. Children will be comfortable in the back seats and adults won’t mind being there for short journeys although the rear windows popout rather than wind down. The boot is a good size and if you upgrade to the SE model the rear seats will fold down for extra space.
Driving
This is no sports car, but the 1.0litre engine gives it enough power and it’s easy to drive with good steering and smooth gearbox. The ride absorbs the worst bumps on the road and the engine is quiet on the motorway where it feels surprisingly at home for such a small city car.
Safety
Like the VW Up! and Skoda Citigo, the Seat Mii scored five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. It comes with airbags, ISOFIX mounting points for child seats and electronic antilock brakes and stability controls. You can also get emergency city braking to prevent lowspeed bumps.
Running costs
The Mii offers around 60 mpg and we suggest choosing a model with automatic stop/start to keep the fuel bills down – although you’ll struggle to spend too much filling up in any model. Insurance costs are as low as they get, while prepaid servicing will prevent any nasty bills for routine maintenance.
GH Verdict
Of the trio of cars from Volkswagen brands Skoda, VW and Seat, the Mii sits in the middle price wise, we think it offers a dash more style than the other two, but is less generous in terms of extras.
