Tesco has announced it is having tech issues just hours after Sainsbury’s released a statement about similar problems. As as result, Tesco has said it will be cancelling a ‘small proportion’ of its deliveries today.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We are working to fix a technical issue which has meant we have had to cancel some online orders that were due for delivery today. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
The news comes after Sainsbury’s released a statement about problems with online deliveries. It read: “We’re experiencing technical issues affecting some stores, our Groceries Online service and our ability to contact customers.”

“Unfortunately, we will not be able to fulfil the vast majority of today’s Groceries Online deliveries. We are working hard to fix the issue and apologise to our customers for the inconvenience. We will contact customers proactively to rebook orders as soon as we can.”
In-store shoppers are experiencing issues with paying on card, @lisanlowe posted: “Not just deliveries affected. No scan and shop, contactless payments at our Sainsbury’s. Also told chip and pin doesn’t always work. Didn’t risk it as I also have nectar prices on scan and go so would have cost more even if payment worked. No working cashpoint nearby either,” The Mirror reports.
In agreeance @johnpork_1892 said: “Same at my local store. I couldn’t pay with nectar points, gift card or chip and pin (2 different cards).”
Sainsbury’s is asking all online customers to reorder their food shop for Monday onwards. In response to one shopper’s question the supermarket replied: “Hi Karen. Unfortunately we’re experiencing major tech issues in store, and no orders will be going out today. I’m so sorry for any inconvenience caused. Please Book a new delivery from Monday onward. Your data is not affected. Charlotte.”
