The Makoshto Badland is now Montana’s largest state park, where visitors can see and enjoy them. The park contains many fossil residues in addition to the obsessed Badland formations of the pine and juniper. At the park’s entrance, their visitor center (with a gift shop) has a triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil, as well as other fossil residues and interpreters of Badland. Scenic runs, hiking trails, 28 campsites, a group picnic area and an outdoor amphitheater are all part of the park.
Throughout the year, the park hosts special events such as Montana Shakespeare in the park, campfires for Friday night and summer youth programs, as well as the famous Buzzard Day festival on the second Saturday in June, which includes 10K and 5K race, a fun run, a jumping house, food, a record floor, hikes, hikes, hikes, hikes and more! MakoshtoScheduled program activities for 2022 are here. Visitors are not allowed to bring metal detectors, and there is no excavation, collection or removal of fossils or artifacts.
