Most happy holiday memories are formed after the airport, but it still makes up a vital part of the trip and a smooth process in getting from A to B can be key to starting off the trip in the right way. So London travellers will be glad to know that three of the capital’s airports have been ranked among the best in the world.
Skytrax have crunched the numbers to determine the World Airport Awards, with London Heathrow coming in clutch to nab the 22nd spot, the highest-placed airport we have in this city (though it did fall a place from last year’s spot). It also comes in the top 10 for the rankings of those with more than 70 million passengers, as well as the rankings for European airports.
In at number 36 was London Gatwickwho improved by 12 places on the Skytrax list, and just making the cut was London City airport at 91st place, a drop of nine spots from last year.
Who took the number one spot? Well, that was Singapore Changi Airport which… you probably just need to take one glance at it to understand why. It pipped the 2024 winners, Doha Hamad, to the post, who dropped down one place to second, coming in just ahead of Tokyo Haneda, Seoul Incheon, and Tokyo Narita to complete the top five spots. At number seven, Paris CDG airport was the highest European airport on the list, with Rome, Munich, and Zurich also scoring high.
Other categories included the cleanest airports (sadly no UK airports made the top spots here), best airport hotels, best low-cost terminals (with London Luton taking the #10 spot here), best new airports, most-improved airports (hello London Gatwick at number four), and more.
