We visited the Bexleyheath branch of PizzaExpress to try the internet’s latest obsession – jalapeños in Sauvignon Blanc.
Yes, really.
Sauvignon Blanc gets a fiery upgrade with jalapeños for £1.50 extra (Image: Holly Brencher) The viral “spicy Savvy B” trend, which has been doing the rounds on TikTok, sees wine lovers dropping jalapeños into their glasses for a fiery twist.
Now, PizzaExpress has become the first high street restaurant in the UK to put it on the menu.
For £1.50, you can order a portion of jalapeños specifically to spice up your wine.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was intrigued.
I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and tipped in a few slices.
The result? Surprisingly good.
The crisp, fruity wine took on a punchy kick from the jalapeños, giving it a heat that builds as you sip.
It’s strange at first, but oddly addictive.
There’s a briny tang from the jalapeños that gives the wine an almost savoury, cocktail-like edge.

I followed it with the veggie pizza, which was loaded with toppings and cooked to perfection.
But make no mistake – the jalapeño wine was the talking point of the meal.

Staff said customers were already curious about the trend, with some trying it just to say they had.
PizzaExpress recommends pairing it with the American Hot pizza for the full experience – a fiery slice to match a fiery sip.
Whether you’re there for the flavour or the novelty, it’s a fun way to shake up your usual order.
And at £1.50, it’s an easy trend to try for yourself.
Hot pizza, spicy wine – what more could you want?
Just maybe keep a glass of water nearby.
