When you think of pizza, you likely think of Italy – the birthplace of pizza. The country has given birth to a variety of pizza styles and is inarguably home to some of the best pizza spots in the world. A recent list by 50 Top Pizzahowever, has recognised a number of international spots (as well as Italian pizzerias), in its bid to find the best pizzeria in the world.
Our very own Napoli on the Road has been recognised as the 5th best pizzeria in the world. Yes, the whole world – even including Italy! (But an Italian pizzeria did take the top spot… Naturally…) The restaurant was also recognised for having the best individual pizza in the world. Napoli on the Road’s Childhood memories was named the Pizza of the Year 2025.
Sitting pretty at the top of the list were Logo mini of business Masanielli – Francesco Martuccifrom Caserta in Italy, and New York’s A Neapolitan pizzain joint first place. Rounding out the top 3 were The Pizza Bar on 38th (Tokyo) in 2nd place and Brazil’s Light Neapolitan pizza in 3rd.

As well as naming its picks for the best pizzerias in the world, 50 Top Pizza gave out special awards to select spots. These included:
- Best Fried Food 2025 – The Fronti – Oleificio Zucchi Award: Figurato brothers (Madrid, Spain)
- Pizza of the Year 2025 – Sorrento Award Latteria: Childhood memoriesNapoli on the Road (London, England)
- Pizza Maker of the Year 2025 – Ferrarelle Award: William Joo, Pizzeria Sei (Los Angeles, USA)
Napoli on the Road was the only UK pizzeria to crack the top 10, but the list did recognise a couple of other pizza spots in the country. London’s branch of 50 Kalò ranked 25th on the list, while Chester’s Stile Napoletano snuck into the top 100 at number 73.

Napoli on the Road’s never-ending spate of awards and praise shows no sign of slowing down, with the pizzeria once again being named the 5th best pizzeria in the world by 50 Top Pizza. The award follows the spot being given the same ranking in the list last year. Plus, it was just named the #1 pizzeria in Europe* at this year’s ceremony. Other recognitions for the top-notch pizza spot include:
- 8th position on the 50 Top Pizza list of the best pizzerias in Europe* (2023)
- Michele Pascarella Named the Pizza Maker of the Year (2023)
- Napoli on the Road named the best pizzeria in the UK and in Europe* by 50 Top Pizza (2024)
*besides Italy… Because… It’s Italy…
The Napoli on the Road founder Chef Michele Pascarella recently announced that a third location for the pizzeria would open in Soho later this year. The Soho restaurant is expected to be the final new opening. Pascarella has mentioned that he wants to ensure the quality remains top-notch and that Napoli on the Road doesn’t become a generic chain restaurant.
