Legends of soul music hardly come bigger than The Temptations & the Four Topsand the pair of classic Motown acts will be hitting the road together once again as they announce new co-headline dates in the UK next year.
And iconic acts need iconic settings, so they’ll be taking to London’s finest, the Royal Albert Hall, on Friday, July 3, 2026 for a celebratory performance, which comes nearly 60 years after they first played in the UK. Prior to this, the pair will also play gigs in Liverpool and Bournemouth.
Both acts have a sea of hits that fans can expect to hear live, with My Girl, Papa Was A Rollin’ Stoneand Get Ready by The Temptations, and Reach Out I’ll Be There, Loco In Acapulcoand Standing In The Shadow Of Love by the Four Tops, all likely playing in your head right now.
Speaking on the announcement, Otis Williams of The Temptations said: “I always, always love coming to the UK. I think of it as my second home. The people here make us feel so at home. They love and appreciate the music and they have always strongly supported us. They are so loyal and dedicated. What’s not to love about coming to the UK.”
Lawrence Payton Jr., son of original founding Four Tops member Lawrence Payton, also spoke on the gigs, saying: “The Temptations with their choreography is matched by no one. When they first came out, it was so exciting to see that. It was something we’d never seen before. With the Four Tops, there’s the vocal prowess. You had that bellowing lead voice of Levi and those beautiful harmonies that they put together. So it’s like a perfect contrast. We’re not going to out-dance them and they’re not going to out-sing us.”
