London boasts a rooftop bar offering as impressive as the views you’ll find atop them. There are an abundance of spots across the city where Londoners can sip, snack, and soak up some sensational views. What the capital was lacking, however, was a spot to do all of those things whilst being transported back to the roaring twenties. Until now, that is…
A brand new rooftop bar and restaurant will be flinging open its doors next week above London’s legendary Leicester Square. The shiny new spot will be the capital’s very first sky-high speakeasy, and will be bringing some 1920s glamour to the heart of the city’s entertainment district. Perched comfortably on top of Hotel Indigo, 1 Leicester Square Rooftop Bar and Restaurant will offer delicious dining, decadent drinks, dazzling views and a whole load of drama. Quite literally, as the spot will offer guests a front row seat to the star-studded movie premieres that take place below.
This new kid on the block rooftop comes courtesy of Criterion Hospitality who have reimagined the historic site which has been home to many music venues and nightclubs previously. Paying homage to the splendour and sophistication of the 1920s, the sky-high spot will be filled to the brim with drama and debauchery (but in, like, an elegant way – you know?). Think opulent interiors, ambient lighting, and plush velvet seating to settle into for the evening.
On the menus
Over at the bar, the expert mixologists will be shaking things up. Seamlessly blending timeless techniques with innovative flavours, the drinks menu will perfectly capture the spirit of the prohibition era. Guests can opt for a Gatsby’s Garden (orange gin, tropical gin, and blood orange soda), a Roaring 20’s (tequila, Cointreau, lemon, chai tea, ginger, and agave), or even a Prohibition Cuban Crush (a non-alcoholic cocktail with blueberry, lemon, cranberry, and almond).
The food menu will be packed full of modern Mediterranean-inspired dishesusing playful flavours to excite and delight the senses. Diners can expect to tuck into the delicious likes of grilled tiger prawns and chimichurri, creamy burrata and tomato, the signature Skyline Burger, or a half-baked skillet cookie. 1 Leicester Square Rooftop Bar and Restaurant will also host regular events, with weekend offerings including resident DJs, West End-themed brunches, and classy afternoon teas.
