For many Romanians settled in Great Britain, access to medical services meant, for years, more than a simple appointment. It meant explanations that were difficult to understand, decisions taken with uncertainty or repeated trips to Romania for analyses, dental treatments or specialist consultations.
From this common reality arose the idea of a clinic where patients can speak Romanian with the doctor, in a British medical system.
From personal experience to medical initiative
The founders of the clinic, Ecaterina Olesea Mazur and Marin Mazur, I say that the project started from a personal experience common to many Romanians in the diaspora: the difficulty of discussing sensitive medical issues in a foreign language and the lack of the feeling of safety offered by clear communication with the doctor.
Over time, they noticed that this problem is not an isolated one, but a widespread reality in the Romanian community. For many, the solution was to take leave and return to Romania for consultations or treatments, with high costs and lost time. The idea of a local clinic, in London, to remove this barrier, thus took shape.
The Romanian language, a key element in the doctor-patient relationship
One of the central pillars of Etera Medical Center is the possibility to benefit from consultations in Romanian. In addition to Romanian, the medical staff can also communicate in English, Russian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Greek.
According to clinic representatives, communicating in their native language helps patients more accurately describe symptoms, understand diagnosis and treatment options, and make informed decisions without the pressure of a language barrier.
Official opening and first services

The clinic was officially inaugurated on February 6 and operates in Leytonstonearea with a large multicultural population. From the beginning, Etera Medical Center was conceived as an integrated medical space, offering several services under the same roof.
Patients have access to services of family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, urology, dermatology and laboratory tests. A dental clinic also operates within the same location, where routine treatments, prosthetic work, implants and dental aesthetics services are available.
In addition to these, the clinic also offers non-invasive or minimally invasive aesthetic procedures, intended for patients looking for modern care and maintenance solutions.

British Standards and Medical Safety
The representatives Etera Medical Center points out that all doctors are licensed and registered to UK General Medical Council and General Dental Council requirements. Appointments can be made online, by phone or directly at the front desk, and in cases of medical or dental emergencies, quick appointments are available.
