Beit Kotn is a private hotel and creative residency in Shoreditch
Kotn is a Canadian-Egyptian B Corp brand that makes clothing and home goods using Egyptian cotton – it sources the cotton direct from farmers in the Nile Delta and Faiyum regions Egypt at guaranteed prices, much of the production process happens in Egypt (along with some factories in Portugal) and it donates a portion of proceeds to fund schools in those areas.
Now Kotn has stepped into the world of hospitality by opening Beit Kotn (meaning ‘House of Kotn’ in Arabic) in Shoreditch. The space, above the brand’s store on Redchurch Street, is the team’s interpretation of Middle Eastern hospitality and is inspired by Cairo. The unit, which includes two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a private balcony, has a warm, lived-in feel, with vintage furniture, collected objects, and a rich colour palette of oxblood red, mustard and sage green.
Beit Kotn isn’t a commercial operation, it’s an invitation-only place where artists and creatives from across the Middle East and North Africa who are working on something in London can stay for free. As well as providing a bit of home away from home, Beit Kotn wants to foster community and encourage creative collaboration. You’re able to request a stay through the web portal, where you describe the project you’re working on, and you can gain access to the space dependent on availability.

The Shoreditch location has just opened its doors but a Cairo outpost, larger than the London residence, is already in the works for 2027.
