Running from February 20 to May 18, 2025this exhibition is all about The Face – the iconic magazine that shaped youth culture from the 1980s to the early 2000s.
In true style of what The Face stands for, this collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery is probably in line with one of the many iconic things the magazine has done over the years.
If you’ve never heard of The Facethink of it as the OG style bible. It wasn’t just about fashion; it was about attitude. It launched the careers of superstars like Kate Mossredefined photography, and gave a voice to underground music and club culture. And after a long break, it came back in 2019, still pushing creative boundaries.
So, what can you expect at the exhibition?
Over 200 jaw-dropping images from legendary photographers like Corinne Day, David Sims, Elaine Constantine, and more. You’ll see how The Face pioneered everything from gritty, real-life fashion photography to the Buffalo movement, which completely flipped menswear styling on its head. The magazine also broke boundaries with its early use of digital editing and showcased Britain’s thriving club scene like no one else.
