I just love spending time at an airport, me. Filled to the brim with anticipation, excitement, and cheap bottles of booze; they’re all pretty enjoyable, as far as I’m concerned. But according to a new study conducted by consumer champion, Which?some of them do, in fact, fly higher than others (so to speak).
Which? has, once again, scoured the country in search of Britain’s best airports. They analysed the country’s many aviation hubs, based on factors including customer service, queue times, seating options, cancellation rates, and food costs, before crunching the numbers like a packet of free pretzels to create this year’s ranking. And one small-but-mighty London airport was crowned one of the very best.
London City Airport
London City Airport was named the best airport in the capital city, and the third best in the whole country. Receiving an overall customer score of 76%London City was also one of just six UK airports to be awarded one of the site’s highly-coveted ‘recommended provider’ badges.
Despite being London’s littlest airport, London City was the only airport in the capital to earn itself a comfy spot in the top ten. It was particularly praised for its lack of queues (scoring the full five stars for its speediness). But it also scored fairly highly for its baggage reclaim wait times, seating options, and food and shopping prices. London City didn’t score quite so highly in the late cancellation department. But I guess you can’t be good at everything, hey?
Last year, plans were approved to hike up the annual capacity of London City Airport by more than a third. This means that by 2031, the airport should be able to welcome nine million yearly passengers.
