Looking for a flippin’ good time this Pancake Day? Or don’t trust yourself to get the batter onto a plate rather than stuck to your ceiling? Put your trust in one of London’s restaurants instead; the city’s brunch and pancake joints aren’t playing around when it comes to Shrove Tuesday this year and we’re here to give you the scoop. There are new specials, elaborate creations, exciting collabs, and loads to sink your teeth into (literally). These are the places to flip out on Pancake Day in London.
Where The Pancakes Are
It’s a celebration of pancake season and rhubarb season at Where The Pancakes Are this year. Both locations will be flipping a rhubarb and custard pancake stack piled with meringue, pistachio, vanilla and forced rhubarb. The rest of WTPA’s menu will be available to order on the day too, with the restaurants extending the opening hours to 7am – 10pm to make sure everyone has time to get stuck into their stacks.

Battersea & London Bridge

The Breakfast Club
Pancakes are a big deal at The Breakfast Club so, of course, they’re marking the occasion by staying open late (the last booking slot will be 8pm) so you can get your fix day and night. TBC will also be bringing back its Pancake Challenge, where diners attempt to eat 12 pancakes in 12 minutes and if they manage it, it’s free.

Polo Bar
Polo Bar is going all out with a series of specials for Pancake Day, including spicy Full English pancakes, chocolate lava pancakes and sticky toffee pudding pancakes. You can get these stacks all day and all night, but come hungry – or bring reinforcements – because they go BIG on the portion sizes. And if you think those are small fry, you can take part in their Pancake Tower Challenge to be in with the chance of winning a free pancakes for a year.

Wiltons
A classic pancake for a classic restaurant. Wiltons, which has been serving Londoners since 1742, is doing Crêpe Suzette (crêpes in an orange and Grand Marnier sauce) on Shrove Tuesday this year.

The Table
Both branches of The Table will be doing pancakes for a tenner all day long, including banana & bacon, tiramisu, fried chicken, and cheese & truffle honey stacks. There’ll also be four chef’s specials – uthappam with a trio of sauces, chicken katsu pancakes, fig & mascarpone pancakes and cottage cheese & cherry baked pancakes – running on the day too.

Kolamba
Do Pancake Day Sri Lankan-style by indulging in some complimentary hoppers at the Soho branch of Kolamba. The restaurant will be dishing them out from 12pm – 6pm.

Thai-American diner Chet’s is doing two specials for Pancake Day this year. Go sweet with a stack topped with vanilla chantilly, berries, caramelised banana, berry compote maple syrup and sprinkles. Or will you go savoury with eggs, bacon, pickled chillies, som tum–infused maple syrup, spring onion and sesame seeds on your pancakes?

Celebrate Pancake Day at Twenty8 NoMad, the NYC-style bistro at the NoMad hotel, with a stack of lemon poppy pancakes topped with blueberries and whipped ricotta for brekkie or brunch.

The signature ricotta hotcakes will be on the menu all day long on Shrove Tuesday at all Granger & Co locations. Made with fresh ricotta and folded egg whites, the hotcakes are super light and fluffy, and come topped with honeycomb butter and fresh banana.
