Thrill-seeking Londoners, listen up. If the complete and utter shock of the cost of – well… literally everything in the capital city doesn’t already have your heart racing enough; chucking yourself off an 160 foot crane in the middle of London should do the trick, right?
UK Bungee Club is one of the world’s leading bungee jumping companies. And for just a handful of wild weekends of the year, they set up a big old crane in the middle of two London parks, ready to give adrenaline junkies of the capital city the chance to tick an exhilarating item off of their bucket list, without having to leave Zone 1.
Bungee jumping in central London
The two London locations are Battersea Park and Coram’s Fields; both of which provide a pretty jaw-dropping backdrop for a bungee jump. Over in Battersea, you’ll be treated to sweeping view up the River Thames, and in Bloomsbury – if (unlike me) you can actually keep your eyes open – you’ll be met with spectacular views of London’s skyline.
Leading the way in the world of UK bungee jumping, the lovely lot over at UK Bungee Club sure know what they’re doing. Each member of staff is meticulously trained, and each safety step along the way is double or even triple checked. So, whilst the irrational side of my brain thought I was imminently going to plunge to my death, the rational side knew that I was in very safe hands.
What happens on the day of the bungee jump?
Once you’ve arrived, signed a waiver, and been weighed (to ensure you’re put on the right bungee); you’ll be harnessed up and hoisted into the sky in a cage. At this point, I’d highly recommend taking a look around and soaking in the gorgeous views. But if the sight in front of you doesn’t take your breath away, what happens next sure will…
You’ll dive (or, in my case, be guided) off the platform and enjoy a few thrilling moments of free-fall, before being caught by the bungee and rebounding back into the air. UK Bungee Club also offer tandem jumpswhere two people are strapped together in what can only be described as the most heart-racing hug of all time.
