First look images have been released for End of the Rainbow ahead of its opening at Soho Theatre Walthamstow.
The production and cast were previously announced, and today’s newly released images place the spotlight firmly on award-winning actress Jinkx Monsoon as Judy Garland.
Photographed and art directed by Hunter Abrams and Sam Lee, with styling by Max Weinstein, the images offer an early glimpse of Monsoon’s transformation. Hair is by Davey Matthew, makeup by Laurel Charleston, and set and props by Reece Koetter.
 
 
 
 
End of the Rainbowwritten by Peter Quilter, depicts Judy Garland in the final chapter of her life. The play pulls back the curtain on Hollywood’s sweetheart to reveal a life lived under the constant glare of fame, where every triumph and heartbreak played out in vivid colour.
Jinkx Monsoon, also known as Hera Lilith Hoffer, is an award-winning actress, comedian and recording artist, and remains the only drag queen to win RuPaul’s Drag Race twice. Her recent stage work has included Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary!Matron “Mama” Morton in ChicagoAudrey in Little Shop of Horrors opposite Corbin Bleu, and Ruth in Pirates! The Penzance Musicalwhich earned her a Drama League Award nomination. Variety described her performance as a “triumph” and added, “Broadway should be honored to have her gracing the boards, as she is sure to be canonized as one of the all-time comedy greats.”
The revival is directed by Rupert Hands, with musical supervision and orchestration by Leo Munby and musical direction by Nick Barstow. Movement direction is by Fabian Aloise, lighting by Prema Mehta, sound by Tony Gayle, and set and design by Jasmine Swan. Wig, hair and makeup design is by Dominique Martin, and the dialect coach is Rebecca Daltry.
