The Washington in Belsize Park earned its place in a national Valentine’s Day list published by Eat Drink Meeta website and app that helps people discover pubs, bars, and restaurants.
Described as “the ideal location to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” The Washington took eighth place on the list, which Eat Drink Meet’s team compiled from thousands of venues across the country.
The selection highlighted the pub’s special Valentine’s offer: “The Washington is the ideal location to celebrate Valentine’s Day with its special sharing offer of two succulent ribeye steaks and a bottle of wine to share for £85.”

The Hampstead pub joins nine others across the UK in the top 10, with The Pine Marten in Harrogate topping the list.
Other pubs featured include The Cheshire Cat in Chester, The Inn on the Lake in Surrey, The Hand and Sceptre in Tunbridge Wells, and The Castle in Castleton.
The list was curated by Eat Drink Meet, whose app and website help users find nearby pubs, restaurants, and bars with filters such as dog-friendly venues, live music, pub quizzes, and outdoor dining.
Eat Drink Meet said the selected pubs “go above and beyond to create the perfect romantic experience this February.”

CAMRA calls it of “outstanding national historic importance” and notes the “extensively retained period woodwork” featuring cut and etched glass, a stucco ceiling, and an island bar.
Original details include an entrance floor mosaic reading “Washington Hotel and Billiards”, wall tiling, painted mirrors showing flora and fauna, and a high glazed screen above the servery.
